How often you need your garden waste to be collected depends on several things.

First of all it depends on your "gardening personality". Are you in the turf every day, once a week or only when you can see the grass coming up your windows?

Secondly, of course, it depends on the season. In winter, supposedly, the lack of sunlight reduces plant growth and therefore the amount of green waste material.

The weather plays a big role as well. Who really likes to get out in the pouring rain and do garden work? Sunshine, for sure, makes gardening even more joyful.

Taking all these things into account you might be able to assess how often you are really out there and fill up your garden bag or garden bin.

It doesn't matter if you need a green waste collection every 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks or even only casual, because Gabco Garden Bags & Bins will suit your "garden personality".

We offer extra collections for busy gardeners and unlimited postponements in case your garden bag or garden bin is not quite full for the due collection cycle.

There are 3 important advantages a garden wheelie bin has to offer.

  • You can simply wheel it to wherever you need it - right to the place of garden work.
  • The closed lid of the garden bin reduces odours of decomposing green waste material
  • Therefore a green waste bin lid nearly eliminates pests, such as flies and other flying insects around your garden waste

If you are after a convenient and clean solution to dispose of your garden waste and green waste the garden bin is surely the perfect answer.

Very often we encounter that people underestimate the amount of work that is involved in cutting a tree.

There are basically 3 stages in tree work.

In the beginning the arborist evaluates the size of the tree. He will notice possible risks that might be involved in felling the tree or trimming it (e.g. risk of hitting a nearby house). the arborist also gets clear about how to access the tree from the ground to execute the pruning/cutting of branches.

In the second stage is the process of cutting. This can be very time consuming as the weight and shape of the branches and the accessibility determine on how the job progresses to the desired outcome.

After the cutting has been completed stage 3 begins. Here all cut branches and debris are removed and put through a chipping machine.

The amount of branches and tree debris can at times be very deceptive. Even small trees have a lot of material to dispose of.

If you have a question regarding a tree that needs pruning/trimming you can always contact us and we are more than happy to give you advice and consultancy.

While emptying garden bags and garden bins in West Auckland and Central Auckland each week we come across some "surprises" hidden in the green waste recepticals.

From plastic to old shoes or dead pigeons you can find almost anything in there.

Please always make sure that you use your garden bag or garden bin for green waste only.

It is important to keep your different types of rubbish seperated as it otherwise creates problems for the process of recycling.

So what does actually go into your garden bin or garden bag?

  • leaves
  • branches (no bigger than 100 mm in diameter)
  • foliage, greenery
  • plant roots
  • weeds
  • lawn clippings
  • flax and bamboo by special arrangement

You can also check the following link to read about the Auckland City Council bylaw that describes the purpose of your 240l wheelie bin.
